Step 1: Prepare Before Installation
Before starting the WordPress installation, ensure you have the following:
- Domain Name (e.g., mywebsite.com)
- Web Hosting that supports PHP and MySQL
- FTP Program (e.g., FileZilla) or Control Panel (e.g., DirectAdmin)
Step 2: Download WordPress
- Visit the official WordPress website: https://wordpress.org
- Click on “Download WordPress” to get the .zip file
- Extract the files in preparation for uploading to your server
Step 3: Create a MySQL Database
- Log in to DirectAdmin or your hosting control panel
- Create a new Database, Username, and Password
- Note down these details for use in the next steps
Step 4: Upload WordPress Files
- Open your FTP program or File Manager
- Upload the extracted WordPress files to the
public_htmldirectory - Wait until all files are fully uploaded
Step 5: Install via Web Browser
- Open your website in a browser, e.g.,
https://mywebsite.com - Select your preferred language and enter the database information you prepared
- Click “Submit” and then “Run the Installation”
Step 6: Set Up Administrator Account
- Enter your Site Title
- Create a Username and Password
- Provide an Administrator Email Address
- Choose whether to allow search engines to index your site (optional)
Step 7: Complete Installation and Log In
Access your WordPress admin dashboard via: https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin
Log in with the username and password you just created to start building your website!
